The Michigan Association of Timbermen is a trade association founded in 1972 to provide representation and services for business people in Michigan’s vast forest products industry.
The Association has as its general purpose to promote in every way, the general and economic welfare of businessmen who grow, harvest or process forest products and those businessmen who provide supplies or services in connection wherewith; to serve as an effective spokesman organization for its members; to improve communications and working relationships between members and representatives of federal, state and local agencies, legislative delegations, buyers of wood products and fellow members; to combat unfair practices; to promote safety; to support our members in rectifying conditions of an unsatisfactory nature; to encourage sound business methods tending to raise the standing of members in the business world; and to have every other power provided to nonprofit corporations by the laws of the State of Michigan and any future amendments thereto.
Objectives of the Association are:
- Operate programs that reduce operating costs to improve profitability of member firms.
- Acquire greater exposure and understanding of the issues and yet untapped economic potential of Michigan’s forest industry.
- Provide Michigan’s forest industry effective representation with legislators and government officials to favorably influence public policy and legislation.
